It's All About Me!

I currently teach students  with emotional and behavior disorders in a specialized facility. I have taught at my current position for the past 16 years and still get the first day jitters! In past years, I have taught 5th grade through 8th grade. This year I will be teaching 4th grade through 6th! I'm so excited! I have a new room and a new para! Before this placement, I also taught in Miami, Florida- high school learning disabled, on an island in Lake Erie (Put in Bay)- I was the only special ed. teacher, at a vocational school- as a coordinator for students with learning disabilities, and at a junior high in Toledo, Ohio where I taught language arts and social studies for students with learning disabilities and I didn't have my own room- I had to travel to 3 different rooms and on different floors!

I am married to my best friend, we have been married for 17 years. It is a second marriage for both of us. I have 2 sons and Mr. A. has a son, daughter, son-in-law, and 5 grandkids! My oldest son just graduated from college this spring and luckily found a job and moved to his own apartment. Unfortunately, he is about 4 hours away! My youngest son finished up his first year in college, in Virginia- which is 8 hours away! Needless to say, we don't get to visit him very often, but he is able to come home for the main holidays! We also live with 2 cats, or they allow us to live with them!

I love to read- whether it is chick lit, non-fiction, young adult lit, children's lit, mysteries, pretty much anything- although I don't care for historical fiction about ancient civilizations or pre-World War II. I also like to cook, most days!! I try to garden, but with the 100+ temperatures we have had in Ohio so far this year, my green thumb isn't doing so well. I'm also a blog and pinterest addict- but in my defense I have actually learned a lot and made several projects for my classroom, home, and gifts, so it can't be a bad addiction, right?
